Brüel & Kjær now offers four CEM type approved sound level meters, covering measurements from entry level to highly advanced.

B&K 2245 Sound Level Meter has received type approval from CEM. It is the second type approval to B&K 2245, following the PTB approval earlier this year. Both type approvals confirm the important accuracy and reliability of this new sound level meter.

CEM (Centro Español de Metrología) is the Spanish Metrology Laboratory providing scientific and technical services. CEM measures with the highest accuracy and reliability. B&K 2245 has been well received since its launch last year. With this type approval, it can now also be used for legally relevant measurements in Spain and other countries that refer to Spanish type approval.

With the type approval Brüel & Kjær now offers four CEM type approved sound level meters, covering measurements from entry level to highly advanced.

The Importance of Type Approval

In many countries, sound level meters used for legally relevant work must be approved by the local type approval authority. To type approve a sound level meter, these authorities comprehensively test the performance of multiple samples of the unit and essential accessories. Even if local legislation doesn’t require type approval, it is a valuable confirmation that the sound level meter performance meets the manufacturers’ claims.
